Ambassador Terms

These terms explain how the OyaShop Ambassador Programme works. You agree to them when you apply to join, and we record which version you agreed to and when. Please read them alongside our Privacy Notice.

1. Who can join

• You must be 18 or over and based in the UK.
• You take part as a self-employed person, either as a sole trader or through a limited company. You are not an employee of OyaShop.
• It is free to join.
• We review every application and may accept or decline it. You cannot share your code, sign shops up or earn anything until your email address is confirmed and your application is approved.

2. What you do

You help local food, grocery and household shops join OyaShop and get ready to trade. You can sign a shop up with its owner beside you, or share your referral link or code so that the owner can register the shop themselves.

Always describe OyaShop truthfully. Do not promise anything OyaShop does not offer, and respect shop owners' time and their personal information.

3. The shop owner must agree

• Only sign a shop up when its owner has asked you to.
• However a shop is signed up, we email the owner, who must confirm that they asked for it. A shop you set up for an owner stays closed until the owner confirms it.
• If the owner declines, the shop is no longer linked to you and you earn nothing from it.

4. One shop, one ambassador

A shop stays with the ambassador who signed it up. Another ambassador cannot take it over or earn from it.

5. Not your own shop

You cannot earn from a shop you own. A shop signed up with your own email address or phone number is refused. If you want to open a shop of your own, register as a vendor.

6. How you earn

When you join you choose one of two ways to earn, and your choice applies to every shop you sign up:

• A share of sales: a percentage of the shop's price for each completed sale the shop makes during its earning period.
• A one-off fee: a fixed amount for each shop, earned once, when OyaShop approves the shop.

With either choice you also earn a share of each subscription payment the shop makes on a paid plan during its earning period.

Sales paid for at the shop's own counter, and orders that are not paid for, earn nothing.

A shop is approved once it has finished setting up and OyaShop has reviewed it. Your dashboard shows what each of your shops still needs.

7. Rates, fees and earning periods

OyaShop sets the percentage of sales, the one-off fee, the share of subscription payments and the length of earning periods. Most of these depend on the shop's plan. We can change them for future shops. The join page and your dashboard show the current figures.

8. Earning periods

• You earn from a shop during its earning period. It starts on the day OyaShop approves the shop, and its length is set by the shop's plan on that day.
• If the shop moves to a plan with a longer earning period while its period is running, the period is extended to the new plan's length from the day it moved. A move to a plan with a shorter period does not shorten it.
• A subscription payment the shop made while it was setting up, after it was signed up with you, still counts once the shop is approved.
• When the earning period ends, nothing more is earned from that shop.

9. Refunds

If a payment you earned from is refunded, your share of it is taken back. If it has already been paid to you, it is taken from your future earnings instead, and it never becomes a debt.

10. Getting paid

• We pay you through Stripe. Connect a Stripe account from your dashboard. Stripe collects your bank details and checks your identity directly, and OyaShop never sees your bank details.
• New earnings are held for a short time before they can be paid, so that any refunds land first.
• Payouts are made once your available balance is above the minimum payout. We may check a payout before it is sent. Your account shows the hold period and the minimum.

11. Tax

You are responsible for your own tax as a self-employed person.

12. Suspension and removal

We may suspend your account, or remove you from the programme, if you break these terms or behave dishonestly or unfairly towards shop owners, customers or OyaShop. While your account is suspended you cannot sign shops up and your code does not work, you do not earn from your shops, and refunds are still taken back.

13. Your data

We use your personal information to run your account, review your application and pay you, as our Privacy Notice explains. Stripe collects your bank details and identity documents itself. Emails with ambassador news are a separate choice, and you can stop them at any time.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. Each version has a number, shown at the top of this page, and your account records the version you agreed to.
